Senior Citizens
Protecting our seniors and creating a safety net for those later in life is an important role of government. Senator Buono believes we must honor our parents and grandparents by making sure they can retire with dignity and security while enjoying good health and independence.
Barbara Buono believes no one should ever have to choose between putting food on the table and taking life-saving prescription medicine. That is why she fought to lower prescription drug costs, expand Medicare coverage and give seniors the tools needed to live on a fixed budget. Senator Buono will continue to advocate legislation and reform packages to aid seniors in their day-to-day lives. She is spearheading the charge to provide tax credits and benefits to purchase prescription drugs.
Senator Buono continues to look out for our veterans, those in nursing homes and those on fixed incomes. She also established a bill allowing corporation business tax and gross income tax credits to businesses providing employment to qualified handicapped persons at sheltered workshops.

Rutgers-Camden Deserves Due Process

Imagine building a house without a blueprint or rebuilding a car engine without instructions. Better yet, imagine ordering the largest restructuring of state universities in decades without a road map. All of these equations spell disaster — exactly what Gov. Chris Christie is inviting by allowing Rowan University to subsume Rutgers-Camden.
As a Rutgers-Camden Law School graduate and a passionate supporter of higher education opportunities, my heart leans toward preserving the independence of Rutgers-Camden. But I have never been one to rule out a proposal based on emotion alone.
