Small Business Tour In Highland Park
On July 6th, Senator Buono kicked off her Small Business Tour on Raritan Avenue/Rt. 27 in Highland Park. Guided by James McCrone of the Main Street Highland Park Organization, stops along the Main Street included:
- White Lotus Home;
- Cyber Knight Computers;
- Over the Moon Toys;
- Through the Moongate artisan gallery & shop;
- All Colors, LLC;
- Jack's Hardware;
- Roberts Florals;
- Unity Bank; and
- Tete Peruvian Restaurant.
During the tour, Senator Buono introduced herself to business owners as Highland Park's new senator, and explained how her recently enacted tax law will benefit small businesses.

HIGHLAND PARK — Empty storefronts and cranky customers are no way to do business, said several shop owners in the borough’s downtown on Wednesday.
With that in mind and an election in November, state Sen. Barbara Buono (D-18) launched a summer-long small-business tour in the borough. Buono took the opportunity to explain a tax cut she helped design to several of the small-business owners it will impact.

Imagine building a house without a blueprint or rebuilding a car engine without instructions. Better yet, imagine ordering the largest restructuring of state universities in decades without a road map. All of these equations spell disaster — exactly what Gov. Chris Christie is inviting by allowing Rowan University to subsume Rutgers-Camden.
As a Rutgers-Camden Law School graduate and a passionate supporter of higher education opportunities, my heart leans toward preserving the independence of Rutgers-Camden. But I have never been one to rule out a proposal based on emotion alone.
